Lifetime.Education services are now available at The Gathering Place!

 

 

We’re excited to begin our partnership with The Gathering Place Clubhouse in Redford, Michigan.

Following  in the footsteps of our program with The Carriage House in Fort Wayne, members and staff from The Gathering Place will be trained as Volunteers with Lifetime.Education? while our staff and volunteers provide support in the form of tutor training, curriculum, material, and digital support.

This partnership will mark the second Clubhouse facility where our programs and services are offered. Click here to learn what makes the Clubhouse model so unique.

Grand opening of The Coutyard, a facility of SAFY

On Thursday, July 10th, The Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne, Inc. joined SAFY to celebrate the grand opening of their new facility “The Courtyard” located at 2828 Fairfield Ave, here in Fort Wayne. The Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne, Inc.  has formed a partnership with SAFY and will be providing educational services at The Courtyard.

The facility will house homeless youth as well as those aging out of the already overwhelmed foster care system.

Many gathered from all across Fort Wayne to celebrate the opening of a facility that is desperately needed and will surely be a tremendous asset to the community-at-large. For more information, visit the official SAFY page for The Coutyard.

Homelessness & Fort Wayne – 1st episode of television round-table

Yesterday,  Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne was with Redemption House Ministries for the first monthly television  round-table discussion show at Access Fort Wayne for the Fort Wayne Area Planning Council on Homelessness Outreach and Advocacy Committee.

The Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne will be hosting a monthly round-table on Access Fort Wayne and discussing different issues determined by the Fort Wayne Area Planning Council on Homelessness Outreach and Advocacy Committee

A (wonderfully) busy Monday!

This Monday the Homeless Coalition was at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission assessing new High School Equivalency Diploma students Monday morning. Two new students, Bruce and Richard, are starting their educational journey with us and will begin tutoring in the near future.

 

After leaving the Rescue Mission, The Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne went to City Hall for the Fort Wayne Area Planning Council on Homelessness Outreach & Advocacy meeting to present a new project. The HCFTW project is a new website designed to serve as a central-location for all agencies serving the Homeless in Fort Wayne to plan and share their events and community updates.

From our FAQ: How are students assessed?

Q: How are students who particpate in programs based on language arts and math assessed?

A: When a student begins his or her educational journey, it’s important for the instructor to understand exactly where he or she stands in terms of math and language skills. The Homeless Coalition uses a computer-based system provided by CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems). Being computer-based, CASAS is mobile and allows us to assess students at any location.
